1. What MarketLens Does
MarketLens is a Chrome extension that helps e-commerce sellers in India research market intelligence — including product prices, competitor data, and supplier costs — by reading publicly available data from e-commerce and wholesale platforms when you explicitly trigger a scan.
2. Data We Collect
MarketLens does not collect any personal information. The extension stores the following data locally on your device only, using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:
- Market scan results (product listings, prices, supplier data) that you trigger
- Your AI API key (stored locally, never transmitted to our servers)
- Cached search trend data for keywords you research
- Fee data cached from publicly available seller pricing pages
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No account or login information
- No browsing history outside of explicitly triggered scans
- No personal identification information
- No payment information
- No analytics or usage tracking
4. Third-Party Services
When you use MarketLens, the extension interacts with the following third-party services on your behalf:
- E-commerce platforms — to fetch publicly visible product listings
- Wholesale supplier platforms — to fetch publicly visible supplier listings
- Google Gemini API — to filter and classify product data. Your API key is sent directly from your browser to Google's API. We never see or store it on our servers.
- Google Trends — to fetch publicly available search trend data
All requests to these services originate directly from your browser. MarketLens has no backend server that receives or stores your data.
5. Permissions Used
- tabs — to open platform pages temporarily during a scan, and close them when done
- scripting — to read publicly visible product and supplier data from those pages
- storage — to save scan results locally on your device
- alarms — to keep the background service worker alive during long scans
6. Data Retention
All data is stored locally in your browser. You can delete it at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage from Chrome's extension settings.
7. Children's Privacy
MarketLens is intended for e-commerce sellers and is not directed at children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
Updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
